After an overview of Family Knowledge, let's now focus on the periodic practice workflow that helps transform knowledge into action over time. I show a recent sample review (2025-06-22) about electric and water utility accounts.

Introduction

We have a Family Review meeting every Sunday at 4:30 PM for 30 minutes to review, discuss, and plan shared Family Knowledge. We also cover our family budget at the end of each month and travel at the end of every quarter.

This iterative cycle has been a very effective method for me to share family knowledge with my wife so she can know and do when necessary.

This process also helps me clarify my own notes as I organize them for sharing and associated skills transfer. So it benefits me as well.

Forcing Function

This Family Review meeting serves as a forcing function for my Family Knowledge effort. I use Obsidian linked notes that we review together and discuss. Using a map for each review helped me focus during the week to prepare and present the Family Review.

Flywheel

The weekly cycle of a Family Review enables me to share linked notes on Family Knowledge with my wife. I receive direct feedback as we review these notes, and I capture thoughts, questions, and actions for follow-up during the next week.

This weekly cadence provides a feedback process that has been very effective for iterative development of linked Family notes, and enables just-in-time identification of topics and actions to focus on next.
