Experiment - Day Cluster 5

Enhanced Day cluster templates streamline workflows.

I'm doing a tiny experiment using my Day cluster notes in Obsidian: Plan, Log, Journal, Review, Actions, and Links. These are the results of my Day 5 trial for Friday, Jan 16, 2026 with a brief summary, what went well (Plus), what didn't (Minus), and what can I do (Next).

Summary

I made major progress today on finalizing my enhanced Day cluster templates to streamline my workflows and minimize redundancy.

➕ Plus

  • Made some adjustments to the Day Cluster workspace layout.
  • Added section and cluster index wayfinders at the top of the cluster notes, and moved the navigation links to related clusters to the bottom between the divider and Meta notes.
  • Relocated the cluster guide callout after the wayfinders at the top.
  • Refactoring content of Plan, Log, Health, Journal, Actions, Links, and Review cluster notes to be more focused and enable enhanced workflows.
  • Updated my templates to match the cluster changes.
  • I'm now starting my morning workflow in Journal with First Light and Meditation before Breakfast, and this is working better.
  • Then I finalize my Plan, start working and updating my Log, Health, Journal, Links, and Actions throughout the day, with the Review with analysis and reflection at the end

➖ Minus

  • I still need to work more on the Review/Preview and Morning Review/Day Plan transition so that's more effective from the end of one day and the start of the next one.
  • I'm doing better each day as I improve the templates and workflow, but there's more work needed before it's as smooth as I would like it to be.
  • More automation is needed to help streamline it further, and eliminate extra steps where possible, and ensure consistency.
  • I need to do more with other time horizons such as Week, Month, Quarter, and Year, as well as othere knowledge objects like Topic and Effort.

➡️ Next

  • Refine Day Workspace layout, toggle file properties, fold navigation section.
  • Refine enhanced templates based on actual workflow usage.
  • Review and consolidate existing periodic note templates and phase out previous Templater scripts.
  • Experiment with Week and Year clusters.
  • Extend Python health services to integrate previous R diabetes management work.
  • Publish results: Experiment - Day Cluster Summary
