Obsidian Integration
This is a major focus for recent efforts to integrate Obsidian with many other apps in my PKM environment. I'm currently reorganizing significant content that was previously published only for the LYT Community via their Circle membership site. After the Writing Original Works (WOW) workshop (May 13–Jun 3), I decided to shift my outputs to this Ghost platform for broader distribution via this new website, blog, and newsletter.
Primary Apps
My PKM environment includes these primary apps. I’m actively working on several efforts that help me integrate them with Obsidian. I focus mainly on Apple technologies for macOS, iOS, and watchOS, as well as open source technologies like JavaScript, Swift, and Java.
- Obsidian (notes / maps)
- Arc Browser (web browsing / internet links)
- Reader (reading, articles, books, videos, feeds)
- Airmail (email)
- Drafts (text / voice capture)
- OmniFocus (actions, lists, routines, perspectives)
- Fantastical (calendar events)
- DEVONthink (reference / support)
- Finder (folders / files)
Support Apps
I use these support apps that help me link and integrate actions from other apps.
- Markdown (headings, lists, links)
- URL Schemes (app links)
- Hookmark (mail / file links)
- Shortcuts (workflows / actions)
- Actions for Obsidian (Shortcut actions)
- Actions URI (Obsidian actions)
- Keyboard Maestro (automation)
- Alfred (workflows)
- Hazel (automation)
Work in Process
As I make progress, I will share my discoveries, tips & techniques, suggestions, and guidelines to help you with your own systems. This is an incremental process that I began in LYT Workshop 12 (Oct 2023) and extended further during LYT Workshop 13 in Feb 2024; I will focus more this effort in the upcoming LYT Workshop 14 from Sep 16 to Oct 16.
