About WarrenWeb

My website started as a personal blog on Wordpress, and has now evolved into a website and blog on the Ghost platform. This provides some background and summarizes the transition.

Blog (Doug Warren)

Initially, I started a personal blog in September 2014, and I became involved with Wordpress and the blogger community. Mostly my focus was "sharing life experience and interests" so I simply called it Doug Warren, and just used https://dpw67.wordpress.com as its URL address without a specific domain. Wow, I can't believe that it's been active for almost 10 years!

Website (WarrenWeb)

As my experiences and interests greatly expanded over time, it seemed appropriate to transform it from a blog with some pages into a website (with a blog). Therefore, with reorganization and enhancements, I changed the name to WarrenWeb since it became much more than just a personal blog, and I obtained a unique domain name (https://warrenweb.net).

At first, the most obvious changes were the menu, structure, and organization; the sidebar initially evolved as changes were implemented, but seemed redundant on the new website. I created a new Home for website pages, updated major sections for PKM, Technology, and Interests, along with my blog posts. My efforts include areas for Music, Photos, Travel, Writing, Health, and Genealogy.

Ghost Platform

Over the past several years, I became very busy working on my personal knowledge management (PKM) system using Obsidian, as well as development efforts with Swift technologies on Apple platforms.

I have learned so much and discovered more. That has generated many new ideas, which I have organized and would like to share more broadly to benefit others. So now I'm migrating my website (and blog) from Wordpress to the Ghost publishing platform as I develop it further.

To ensure a smooth transition, the Ghost website is now a subdomain with the blog prefix as https://blog.warrenweb.net in my current Wordpress site domain with links back to existing content.

WarrenWeb Notes

I have also created a digital garden site using Obsidian Publish that is available to my Plus subscribers to my Obsidian notes for early access to what I'm thinking, linking, and sharing. Eventually, that content will be developed further and published as pages and posts on my Ghost website (and newsletter). It's available on a password-protected site at https://publish.obsidian.md/warrenweb, and later will be a custom domain via https://notes.warrenweb.net.

Followers

Currently, I have over 300 followers on social networks who automatically receive my posts via email, Wordpress Reader, X (Twitter), Facebook, and RSS feed; Pinterest and Instagram also provide additional ways to access my site. I hope you will subscribe to my new website, if you are still interested. I think you will enjoy the enhanced newsletter with my posts.

Feedback

I appreciate your patience and tolerance during this transition. There will be many changes to the site, and I will try to inform you via periodic posts about what's new or different.

I'm very interested in your comments, feedback, problems, or suggestions. So please let me know what you like (or don't) so I can make any adjustments. Thank you.
