Family review about Venmo payment services account.

Sorry for the long hiatus with logging Family Knowledge activities. This effort continues, and we have been reviewing each of our accounts with a focus for each Family Review meeting on a different account website. This has been very helpful to spend this time for various reasons.

Account websites

Obviously, it’s a way to review what information is available for each account and where to find it. It also shows how navigate the menus, sidebars, links, sections, and pages. My wife has been more interested in each website than I expected, and usually has lots of questions that she asks about it. In fact, this review process has enabled me to discover many aspects of our accounts that need attention and corrections such as updated credit cards, phone number, or preferences.

Account notes

I update the Account Note in our Family Vault for each account with the corresponding information for the common sections and structure from our Account Template. It’s necessary to capture information, commentary, procedures, links, and/or screenshots for each account. However, there’s a consistency for each Account note even though all their websites are totally different.

Venmo account

After reviewing retail credit cards such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Macy’s, and Kohl’s recently, today we started going through the payment services starting with Venmo. Actually, she wanted to cover that because she knows we have used it to send money to our son, grandkids, and my sister; however, she didn’t really understand what it is or how to use it. So we went through my Venmo account today, and I also learned more about it as well. Like other accounts, we review both the website and mobile app (if available). Next week, she wants us to review PayPal since she’s not really familiar with that either.

Homework

Also, she gave me some homework for this week. She suggested that I gather all my credit cards together, so we can review them, and make sure they all in a single place. Right now, some are in my wallet, dresser, or office desk drawer. This is something that I’m meant to do, but never got around to it. It was very good suggestion.

We plan to visit our financial advisor and attorney next month to review financial investments and legal documents such as wills, trust, and advance care directives. It’s been over 10 years since our last changes, so it’s time to review them again. Recently, I noticed she was going over the list of our Safe Deposit Box contents, and we’ll talk about that in an upcoming review meeting.

Summary

These all demonstrate how she’s getting more engaged all the time, and learning more each week. Sometimes it the little things that really deserve some attention, but these weekly meetings give us an opportunity to spend some time doing that together (and then I follow-up with writing in our account notes).
